Perpetual Drifters: Fronted by songwriter Garrett Gray, the Perpetual Drifters lie on that intersection between early Byrds and the later twangy, hazy influence of Gram Parsons. There are hooks aplenty that will get lodged in your ears, and clever lyrics to give your gray matter a good kneading. -Jason Cassidy, Chico News & Review
Chico’s own Perpetual Drifters take lyrical poetry to a whole other level. Vivid lyrics—“Pass away like taillights in the fog, February blossoms early in the sun, fade under the weight of winter’s thumb”—written by frontman Garrett Gray, and palpable imagery make the group’s roots rock/folk amalgam an out-of-body experience for listeners. The perfect soundtrack to a sunny day at The Boardwalk—one of the band’s favorite hangout spots—Perpetual Drifters’ latest album, Waiting For Saturn, released in April, proves that substance-filled pop music is not only possible, it’s a whole lot of fun. – Good Times Santa Cruz Weekly
“Roots rock that casts the world in hues of burgundy romance and gray loneliness” – Mike Kieron, Synthesis Magazine
As winner of the Critics’ Choice award for Best Songwriter in last year’s CAMMIES, Perpetual Drifters’ frontman Garrett Gray is the reigning poet laureate of the local music scene. Gray’s literary snapshots and lyrical musings help propel the band’s smooth melodies. – Ken Smith, Chico News & Review
Like Wilco’s Tweedy or Old 97’s Miller, front-man Garrett Gray has country in his voice, but rock ’n’ roll in his heart. Folk, pop, country, rock—whatever he’s in the mood for, Gray’s got a well-crafted song at his fingertips. – Jason Cassidy, News & Review

Biography
The Perpetual Drifters are a five-piece rock band from Chico, California. The band began in 2007 and include singer-songwriter Garrett Gray on guitar and vocals, Nolan Ford on guitar, Evan McPherson on bass, Jack Night on keys, and Justin Wood on drums.
Band members come from a variety of musical backgrounds, drawing from a rich palette of old and new sounds. The bands creative process revolves around the songwriting of Garrett Gray:
“If everyone in the band is feeling a certain song then we start to jam it and get a feel for where it wants to go. Then we begin a process we refer to as ‘rogering’. This is basically tricking it out.”
In the fall of 2009 they released their first full length album “Hopelessly Devoted” as a follow up to their EP “Peeling Back The Night”. Their new album “Waiting for Saturn” was recorded with Scott Barwick at the Origami Lounge in Chico, California and was released April 8, 2011.
When not playing music the guys enjoy road sodas and hanging with their manager/spiritual guru Donna Lovejoy at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk.
